Consumer Confidential: The Privacy Story

February 3 - 9, 2002 has been designated National Consumer Protection Week to highlight consumer protection and education efforts around the country. The subject of this year’s NCPW is privacy.

Consumers are concerned about the privacy of their personal information. Our economy generates an enormous amount of data. It’s important to know how that information is used so that it’s not misused. And that’s where consumer education comes into play: An educated consumer is a confident consumer, and a confident consumer drives our nation’s economy. We encourage you to use the information on this site to help you learn more about privacy issues and how they affect your life and the decisions you may make in the marketplace.
